Job Summary:
Produces staves by setting up, operating, and adjusting the single head rotary punch presses. Includes the operation of a saw, conveyor, bander, palletizer, and forklift. Also includes operating fork trucks to load/unload trailers and changeover of tooling on the line.
Responsibilities:
1) Cuts the staves to length with a saw. Maintains proper documentation of production activities.
2) Inspects all staves for quality and defects prior to banding. If banded, inspects all staves again after banding. Sorts the staves according to size and grade. Places the staves in bundles of four, secured with wire twist ties. Labels the bundle with identification information. Palletizes the bundles for transport to the customer. Forklifts the pallets onto a trailer. Secures the load with straps and rope. Loads the trailer onto a fork truck and transports the load to the customer. Unloads the trailer using a fork truck.
3) Performs routine maintenance on the equipment used in the process. Cleans the equipment as necessary. Replenishes supplies used in the process. Maintains a safe and clean work area. Maintains good housekeeping practices.
4) Maintains accurate records of inventory, production, and quality. Completes paperwork as necessary. Reports any deviation from normal operations to supervisor. Submits written report of any equipment downtime to supervisor.
5) Works safely at all times. Observes all safety regulations. Uses protective equipment when required. Maintains good housekeeping practices. Recycles whenever possible.
6) Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1) One year of previous manufacturing experience preferred. High school diploma or equivalent. Strong communication skills. Good vision. Ability to read and write English. Ability to perform basic math. Basic computer skills. Good manual dexterity and agility. Good problem-solving skills.
2) Ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to chest. Frequent bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling of tools, boxes, and material. Standing for long periods of time. Operation of motorized and manual pallet jacks. Able to communicate effectively with others.
Environmental Demands:
1) Exposure to noise, vibration, heat, cold, dust, chemicals, greases, and lubricants.
