Job summary

BOSCH in Norman, OK seeks a Machine Operator I to operate presses and sheet metal fabrication equipment following blueprints and MES data entries. You will inspect parts, verify tolerances, and maintain a clean, safe 5S area.

Role requires basic computer skills, blueprint literacy, and the ability to read decimals and fractions. Training and safety compliance are emphasized throughout the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

  • Operate press to fabricate sheet metal parts within close tolerances.
  • Inspect parts and verify against blueprints.
  • Enter yield data into MES and production log at the machine.
  • Set dials on the control console for automatic shears and manage blade positions.
  • Maintain 5S workspace and report discrepancies.

Job description

Operatepress machine to fabricate specified sheet metal parts withinvery closetolerances. Inspect parts,operatematerial transfersystemand reportdiscrepancies.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

In addition to the duties and/or responsibilities of Machine Operator I, perform the following:

  1. Work Safe!

  1. Basic computer operating skills.

  1. Obtainblue printfrom MES.

  1. Verifyitsinformation.

  1. Work fromblue prints.

  1. Check everytwenithpart for correctness to check part and or print.

  1. Enter yield into MES and production log at their machine, 5S area.

  1. Auto Shear:

Set dials oncontrolconsolefor automatic shears, such as number of increments, increment feed and clamp position.

  1. Twelve Foot Shear:

Perform calculations todeterminethe blade position. Set back gauge position and material feed clamps on manual shear. Make necessary adjustments.Feed part intomachine. Run two machines simultaneously asrequired. Inspect parts to drawings or set-up person's first specification piece, every 20 pieces. Record productionin MES and on theproductionlogincluding machine downtime.Maintainmachine,equipmentand an orderly work area, 5S area.

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

3. Use of decimals, fractions and scales.

4. Complete in plant Brazer training course (should brazing be required for assigned job).

5. On job training.

Very repetitive work, continuous standing, frequent walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carry of heavy and/or bulk part required. Weight amounts may vary from 5 pounds to 50 pounds, any amount over 50 pounds requires physical or mechanical help. Arm strength and coordination required for use of brazing and other hand held tools. Repetitive motion of hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders. Rotating of upper body to lift and position parts on coils or brazing line. Continuous visual and some close mental attention to details involved in assembling sub-assembly or complete coil to blueprint specifications.

Practice safe work and environmentally friendly behavior and participate actively in safety and environmental training. Maintain and use as required all personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment provided. Follow environmentally sound practices to help reduce pollution and conserve natural resources. Understand hazards associated with job assignments and alert supervisor/management of any unsafe conditions or environmental concerns immediately.
