The Machine Operator I must have excellent mechanical abilities, troubleshooting skills, and be highly motivated to learn and perform independently.

Major responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Follow production procedures to ensure safety, quality, and production demands are met.
  2. Follow documented work instructions and accurately document relevant operational information as required.
  3. Troubleshoot technical issues and identify the root cause for automation line not performing to specifications.
  4. Critically think and solve problems, with a detail-oriented outlook to follow complex instructions.
  5. Assist with RCA of department inefficiencies, developing and implementing corrections.
  6. Team involvement and interaction to improve equipment functionality and efficiencies.

Equipment care routines and operation

  1. Respond to machine faults by observing potential fault causes, reacting to faults, and recovering the machine if a fault occurs.
  2. Input or correct part tracking information into machine controls for proper operation.
  3. Diagnose basic issues and safely reset/restart the equipment.
  4. Monitor material levels and replenish as required to ensure effective operation of automated equipment.
  5. Perform preventative maintenance as needed to ensure continuous operation of equipment. Visually inspect and test machinery and robots for proper operation.
  6. Complete and maintain TPM logs.

Quality standards

  1. Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces, adhering to standards.
  2. Use instruments and gauges to perform measurements and make informed decisions based on data collected.

All other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma/GED is required.
  • Previous machine operator experience or comparable education is preferred.
  • Must have previous powder coating experience.
  • Good communication skills (oral and written)
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Must be goal-oriented with enthusiasm and focused on enhancing product quality, reducing equipment downtime, prolonging asset life cycles, optimizing equipment performance, and increasing production efficiencies.
