Job summary

McWane Plant and Industrial (MPI) is seeking an experienced Machine Operator to join our Job Shop Fabrication and Machining operation. The Operator measures, threads, and fits flanges on pipe from 3" to 6" in diameter, using lathes and threaders, and moves pieces with a crane to machining centers.

The role requires reading measurements, ensuring thread depth and taper accuracy, and testing finished flange fit. Overtime and safety compliance are essential in this fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is desired.
• Previous experience with machinery is desired.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring personal safety and the safety of your team members.
• Assist supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
• Wear PPE including fall protection, respiratory, hearing, safety footwear, head and eye protection.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Promote the McWane Way principles.
• Follow all processes and procedures of the Safe Management Program; report deviations.
• Identify fabrication requirements for each piece of pipe.
• Load pipe into machine, center, and secure; machine tapered threads.
• Test flange to ensure proper threading; apply glue and tighten flange.
• Operate threaders and lathes; move pipe to next processing step.
• Work with pipes 3"–6" diameter, 4" to 18 ft long.
• Demonstrate quality and meet production objectives.
• Read tape measure and micrometer; maintain good math skills.
• Understand machinery processes.
• Maintain punctuality and attendance.
• Be a team player willing to support different machines.
• Be positive, enthusiastic, and helpful.
