Job Description

SUMMARY

Performs repetitive production and packaging operations to mass produced products by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Operates machines, such as presses in molding area, according to machine (product) standard.
  • Works at different workstations as production needs require.
  • Works on line where tasks vary, as parts of various sizes and shapes move along the line.
  • Checks all finished parts for any possible defects (including grease, flash, punctures, and other defects).
  • Packs all parts which are of good quality into boxes, in preparation for sealing and shipping.
  • Notifies Lead Person, Mold Technician and/or Production Supervisor whenever items produced do not meet quality requirements, or if machinery need repair.
  • Wears all required personal protective equipment.
  • Assists in the training of new operators as needed.
  • Maintains housekeeping of work areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None

LEVEL OF AUTHORITY

The Machine Operator has the authority to shut down production equipment to prevent the production of defective product and place product on hold if it does not meet the customer/company specification

Training Requirements

The Machine Operator has the responsibility to successfully complete the position training found in the plant training manual.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES

Certificate and training in safe forklift operation are required.
