Job summary

Hoya Vision Care in the United States (Texas) seeks an AR/HV Lab Technician to support coating operations. You will prepare lenses for AR coating, run computer-controlled equipment, and maintain clean, organized workstations while meeting hourly production goals.

The role requires attention to detail, basic math, and ability to work overtime or weekends as needed. Experience with automated equipment is preferred and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Able to read and write English language well.
• Experience in the optical industry related to ophthalmic lenses is desired.
• Must be able to work overtime, Saturdays and Sundays, and some holidays when needed.
• Good hand-to-eye coordination.
• Able to analyze and record yield data accurately.
• Experience or knowledge working with automated equipment.
• Work without constant supervision.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Primary Duties

• Follow all SOP’s and the best practices for the AR/HV department
• Ensure lenses are clean of dust and debris
• Inspection, sorting, washing, and prepping lenses for AR coating.
• Setting up lenses into domes, setting domes into AR machine.
• Machine maintenance, including cleaning and scrubbing of exterior machine parts. Cleaning and scrubbing inside of the machine.
• Help routing work
• Maintains works-tation clean and organized
• Maintains hourly production goals and yield
• Able to work on computer-controlled equipment

Secondary Duties

• Be able to multi-task, as required by work flow or Lab Manager
• Handling flammable/corrosive materials daily
• Light record keeping on machine maintenance
• Maintain cleanliness of the lab
• Perform duties as requested by Lab Manager or Supervisor
• Maintain the machine clean inside and out
• Maintain workstation and work areas clean and organized
• Prepping machine parts for maintenance
• Ensure rings and sectors are clean twice a day

Qualifications

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. During maintenance, employee required to squat, stretch, twist, bend, and be able to work inside tight areas.

Safety Requirements

• Closed-toe shoe required with heel support.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Must wear safety glasses, gloves, a face mask, and a lab coat as required by the task.
