Job summary

Staffmark is hiring a Machine Operator in Chicago, IL on 1st shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Mon-Fri. The role involves operating sewing machines, monitoring quality, and meeting production timelines with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience operating manufacturing or production equipment.
• Ability to read work instructions, production schedules, and basic technical documentation.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to monitor equipment.
• Commitment to workplace safety and dependable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Operate industrial sewing machines and related equipment to perform garment alterations, repairs, and modifications.
• Complete internal and external customer orders accurately and within established production timelines.
• Follow work orders, alteration instructions, and customer specifications to ensure quality results.
• Inspect garments before and after alterations to verify workmanship, fit requirements, and overall quality.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards while meeting daily production goals.
• Identify and report garment defects, equipment issues, or discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor.
• Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning and basic troubleshooting, to ensure equipment operates efficiently.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when operating sewing equipment and handling materials.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation.
• Assist with other production and alteration-related tasks as assigned.
