Primary Functions

The Machine Operator is responsible for configuring, loading, operating, and maintaining production machines such as lathes, grinders, mills, and others. Ensuring optimal machine performance, quality checks, and adherence to safety and quality standards are essential.

  • Operate various production machines according to prints and specifications, including equipment like lathes, grinders, mills, brake presses, punch presses, band saws, banders, slitters, lasers, etc.
  • Produce parts within specified quantities, tolerances, and quality standards.
  • Measure finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with functional, quality, and cosmetic specifications.
  • Maintain logs of production and errors, including rejected/discarded pieces.
  • Inspect and set up equipment for proper operation, perform routine adjustments and troubleshooting.
  • Calibrate and adjust machine setups to meet specifications.
  • Control machine settings and feed raw materials appropriately.
  • Monitor machine cycles for jams and conformity to specifications.
  • Inspect raw materials and finished products for quality.
  • Read and interpret orders, blueprints, and schedules for setup and operation.
  • Adjust controls and monitor dial indicators to regulate machine speeds.
  • Set distances and secure equipment like arbors, spindles, and dies.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Comply with SOPs, ISO procedures, and safety policies.
  • Participate in Self-Managed Performance (SMP) and meet business objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Requirements
    • High School Diploma or equivalent recommended.
    • Ability to quickly and accurately adjust machine controls.
    • Ability to interpret engineering designs and documentation.
    • Understanding of production equipment or quick learning ability.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Good visual acuity at close and distant ranges.
    • Ability to anticipate and time movements accurately.
    • Follow instructions and work on multiple tasks.
    • Adaptability to changing conditions and minimum supervision.
    • Effective teamwork and ability to perform repetitive tasks.
    • Regular attendance is required.
