Job summary

Elgen Staffing in York, Pennsylvania seeks a Die Setup Machine Operator for a full-time role. You will install dies in stamping presses and set up auxiliary equipment to meet customer prints, load dies, inspect parts, and adjust as needed to achieve acceptable parts.

The job requires basic math, Blueprint reading with tolerances, and experience with measuring tools. You may perform night or weekend shifts and must maintain QA standards and safe work practices.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months vocational training or 2 years in stamping.
  • Ability to perform basic math including fractions and decimals, metric/English conversion.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, setup instructions and maintenance guides.
  • Knowledge of measuring equipment such as micrometer, caliper and optical comparator.
  • Blueprint reading with geometric tolerances.

Responsibilities

  • Install and remove dies from presses.
  • Set up auxiliary equipment per specifications.
  • Load die and inspect parts according to print; adjust die as needed.
  • Apply QA practices and metrology to ensure conformance to design specs.
  • Record modifications and maintenance steps, as needed.
  • Maintain clean, safe work area and timely documentation.

Machine Operator – Die Setup

Our client, a precision metals manufacturer, has an immediate need for an experienced Die Setup Machine Operator, to join their winning team in York.

Our candidate of choice will install dies into stamping presses and set-up auxiliary equipment to complete jobs according to specifications, load die and inspect parts to print and adjust die as needed to achieve an acceptable part.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install and remove dies from presses.
  • Set-up auxiliary equipment to specifications.
  • Load die, check sample parts to customer print and complete QIP.
  • Utilize quality assurance practices and metrology equipment to ensure that product conforms to applicable design specifications.
  • Consult manager if any tooling may need to be modified from print and record modification.
  • Utilize good housekeeping practices to maintain a clean & safe work area.
  • Complete all documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Record maintenance steps in Die Log Book.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Six months vocational training or 2 years in the field of stamping.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions using whole numbers, fractions and decimals including metric /English conversion. A basic understanding of algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, set-up, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Knowledge of measuring equipment usage, such as micrometer, caliper and optical comparator.
  • Blue print reading with geometric tolerances.
  • Ability to read die assemblies, change-over and detail prints from various sources.
  • Capable of writing routine correspondence and reports.
  • Ability to solve practical and mechanical problems (Mechanical aptitude).
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must have the ability to successfully complete all training requirements as listed on training matrix for this position.
  • Must be available for scheduled work: normal work day of 8 hours or more as necessary, night shift and weekend work is possible.
