Job Purpose:
Machine Operators are system experts in their assigned area, highly functional across multiple areas. They must ensure efficiency, operational conformance, product quality, and continuous improvement. As members of an area team, they are responsible for the efficient production of quality products in the required quantities. They operate specified machinery in their assigned area and should have the skills to train or perform tasks of other associates as needed. Strong communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills are essential to support site objectives.
What we are looking for?
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma / GED
- Willing to work 12-hour day shifts (5:30 AM - 6:00 PM) OR 12-hour night shifts (5:30 PM - 6:00 AM)
- Willing to work 2-2-3 shift schedule (2 days on, 2 off, 3 days on; then 2 off, 2 on, 3 off)
- Preferably 1 year in manufacturing
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift at least 50 pounds
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Perform all assigned activities and tasks within a line or area
- Perform jobs such as supply, load, unload, cooler, dries, meat receiving, mixer helper, filler/seamer, meat table, QA check, retort forklift, caser, and labler
- Operate equipment safely and efficiently
- Take corrective actions to solve problems at the root cause level
- Assess equipment reliability and perform routine repairs, adjustments, and troubleshooting
- Work with maintenance to complete equipment preventive maintenance (PM)
- Maintain accurate records of QC checks, production, and waste
- Keep detailed logbooks and perform shift documentation with quality standards
- Perform QC tasks like metal checks, date code inspections, item number verification, and dump logs
- Follow good housekeeping practices
- Take ownership of product quality by performing standard quality checks and duties, following GMPs
- Operate a forklift and basic desktop computer systems
- Understand inventory control principles
- Have knowledge of the plant's products and goals
- Understand production schedules, computer systems, and work instructions
- Know the systems used by Mars and the business
