What We’re Looking For
We are currently hiring a Machine Operator (days).
POSITION DUTIES
- Perform machine setup to start a production cycle; this is sometimes performed multiple times a day.
- Maintain good production; checking weights, codes, seals, & finish cases every 15 minutes.
- Control and adjust the functions and settings of the machines.
- Feed the necessary raw material to the machines to keep them running.
- Keep records of raw material used.
- Assist with metal checks for verification.
- Update hourly board with shutdowns or down times longer than 10 minutes.

Minimum Qualifications/Certifications/Experience Required
- Basic knowledge of electricity.
- Must be able to read and distinguish codes.
- Mechanical knowledge (machinery).
- Reliability, punctual, and good attendance
- Must have a good work record.
- Must be able to lift heavy rolls of wrap, some weighing 100 lbs.
- Fill-in as needed in various locations; this may include any job in the repack area.
- Must have self-initiative/motivation and must display logical thinking.
Requirements
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB POSITION
This job position requires the following minimum physical abilities to adequately perform the above job activities.
- STANDING – The employee needs to be able to stand for 7 hours per work shift (out of 8), walk for 6 hours per shift, and may be able to sit for 1 hour per shift if conditions allow.
- PACE – The pace of this job position is set at 50-70 bags per minute per side. This is considered a routine pace.
- LIFTING – There is a considerable amount of lifting in this job position. The maximum lift weight is 100 lb lifting at a frequency of 6 times per day. A lift of 60-65 lbs. is more routine at a frequency of 16 times per day.
- TWISTING while lifting heavy objects may be necessary about 16 times per shift.
- PUSH/PULL activities will be necessary about 75 times each day when shrink wrapping loads on skids.
- HAND/WRIST use is essential in this job position. Fine hand/wrist movements will be necessary about 2 hours per shift. Pinching/gripping will be necessary 6 hours per day. Repetitive twisting and bending at the wrist will be needed about 2 hours per day.
- ELBOWS – Forceful bending and straightening at the elbow level is required approximately 16 times per day.
- SHOULDERS – Work above the shoulder level and with forceful push/pull activities above the shoulder level is required about 1 hour per shift.
- KNEES – Work on the knees is required about 90 minutes per shift, with squatting activities required about 1 hour per shift.
- CLIMBING is required about 2 hours per day to a level of 12 feet above the floor level.
- WALKING is expected to be at about 3 miles distance per day.
- VISION – 20/40 is required.
- COLOR VISION – Employees in this job position are required to have good color vision.
- HEARING - Employees in this job position must be able to surpass the 40 Db threshold.
Food Safety Duties/Responsibilities
- Use proper food safety PPE.
- Upon task completion, account for all tools, spare parts, materials, and shop supplies. Ensure that equipment and work area is clean and free of debris. Return Items to storage and dispose of consumables.
- Prevent any product contamination by refraining from use of tape, wire, string, or any other temporary repair. If temporary repair must be used, correct the temporary repair as soon as possible.
- Maintain food safety integrity of packaging materials.
- Ensure good seals on packages.
