Cornerstone Building Brands in Houston, TX is seeking a manufacturing worker to operate heavy machinery, read blueprints, and support safe production on the shop floor. Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year in manufacturing or similar environment.
• Good communication skills and basic computer literacy.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
• Forklift/crane training or experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate heavy machinery and gauges for cutting, punching, forming, and processing.
• Read blueprints and select correct materials.
• Maintain safety rules in manufacturing environs.
• Operate computerized equipment and material handling gear.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and lubrication.
• Identify parts with correct numbers and tags for traceability.
• Adhere to continuous improvement practices on the shop floor.
• Stand/walk 8–12 hours daily; occasional awkward postures.
• Climb on/off equipment and ladders as needed.
• Deal with varying indoor/outdoor conditions (hot/cold/rain).

Base pay rate is $18.50 per hour

Day Shift: 6:00AM - 2:30PM, hours may vary depending on operations

This is a position with the potential overtime. The shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours long depending on work orders for the day and season of the year.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up and operate heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations
• Knowledge of production techniques and have the ability to produce quality-building parts
• Knows and understands all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and about a manufacturing environment
• Ability to operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment
• Perform routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required to maintain proper operation
• Mark part number, order number, number of pieces on parts. Attach identification tags as required for customer to have the ability to locate correct parts
• Interpret blueprints, specifications, and other technical data and select correct raw material or semi-finished parts
• Maintains continuous improvement practices in work area
• Standing and walking 8-12 hrs. every day
• Repetitive material handling. Some in awkward body positioning.
• Repetitive climbing on and off of equipment and ladders
• Varying and extreme working conditions inside and outside (Hot, Cold, Rain, Shine)

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• A minimum of one year of related work experience in manufacturing or comparable work environment
• Good Communication Skills
• Basic Computer Skills
• Experience with hand tools, wrenches, banding equipment and nail guns
• Able to use of measuring gauges
• Able to read a tape measure
• Forklift experience a plus / Must be trainable on forklift
• Crane experience a plus / Must be trainable on crane
• Flexible with working overtime and weekends when needed
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist
