Job Description

Machine Operator now sought by Messina Talent Advisors for an exciting permanent, direct-hire opportunity offering growth and competitive pay in Walled Lake, MI. Our client is a manufacturer and marketer of coated, laminated, and converted films, foils, and papers; supplying to various markets.

Machine Operator Position Summary:

Set up and operate a coating machine to apply solutions to continuous sheet materials to impart special physical properties to determined specifications. Load/unload rolls of material onto machines. Regulate the speed at which material is fed through rollers and the amount of solution applied to the material. Troubleshoot coating problems and take action to correct problems. May recommend corrective actions to supervisors and other coating personnel. Identify, pack, move (inside the facility), or prepare for disposal of hazardous materials, including solvent-laden rags, waste solutions, and clean-up materials.

Machine Operator Essentials Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Utilize documented work instructions and work order documents to set up and operate coating machines, producing products within specific tolerances. Clean up machine for the next product run. Operate all electronic monitoring equipment.
  2. Visually inspect the coated product for defects in quality and make necessary adjustments or corrections. Coordinate with quality control on product specifications and troubleshoot machine and solution problems. Adjust process within specifications to ensure product uniformity. Perform operator quality assurance testing and inspections.
  3. Maintain working knowledge of applicable QMS procedures and problem-solving methods.
  4. Document production, process, and quality data.
  5. Train qualified personnel in position responsibilities.
  6. Maintain a safe, clean, and environmentally compliant work area.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/leader.
Machine Operator Education and Experience:
  • Minimum 1 year as Coater/Mixer Trainee or equivalent experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Certified forklift operator preferred.
  • Good PC skills preferred.
Key Traits:
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and manual & visual dexterity.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
Working Environment:

Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and temperature variations. Noise level is low to moderate.
