Job summary

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Machine Operator 2nd shift at our Fogelsville, PA manufacturing plant.

This position is responsible for the safe operation of a specific piece of equipment to ensure material complies with customer specifications. The successful candidate will work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to temperature changes and will communicate with Quality Control and the Department Manager to meet production schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Prior experience as a machine operator.
• Specific on the job training is provided.
• Basic computer knowledge and the ability to use computerized equipment in daily operations.
• Must have basic reading, writing and math skills.
• Ability to read and interpret a tape measure.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must be able to work with little or no supervision.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, some weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform cutting operations according to programs and customer specifications.
• Perform quality checks on materials to ensure the product meets customer specifications.
• Unload finished cut foam material and transport to next production area.
• Place excess trim material in baler.
• Maintain communication with line personnel to ensure downtime is kept to a minimum.
• Record pertinent information of programs.
• Operate baler - bale and secure trim material from baler.
• Cross-train to operate other cutting equipment as needed.
• Other duties as deemed necessary by supervision.
