Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Stacker Operator for 2nd shift (M-F, 3pm-11pm) with overtime and weekend requirements. The role involves safely operating stacker equipment, supporting multiple machines, and ensuring product quality in a fast-paced corrugator environment.

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and detail-oriented, with the ability to read instructions and follow complex procedures. Training and overtime are expected as part of this position.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret basic instructions, safety procedures, Factory Orders, and machine manuals.
  • Proficiency in basic math and the ability to accurately read a tape measure.
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong attention to detail.
  • Understanding safe work practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume production setting.
  • Willingness to perform preventive maintenance (PMs) as assigned.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and Saturdays as required.
  • Must be open to overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and assist with stacker equipment and support operators across multiple machines as needed.
  • Assist with equipment setup and changeovers, including installing dies, attachments, and printing plates; setting pull rolls, collars, straps, scores, heads, and blade combinations; setting and adjusting Prefeeder and Lead Edge Feeder; adjusting pressures and registering; operating glue and ink systems; setting folding rails, squaring sections, and ejectors.
  • Accurately follow Factory Orders and production specifications.
  • Perform required quality checks, including first-piece dimensional and print inspections, in-process quality inspections, ink color and viscosity checks, and verification of proper box folding and completion.
  • Take corrective action or escalate issues to ensure customer quality requirements are met.

The Opportunity:

The Stacker Operator plays a critical role in supporting corrugator and converting operations by safely operating and assisting with stacker and related equipment. This position ensures product quality, workplace safety, and production efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, quality-driven, and eager to grow within the organization.

How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock:
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all required safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout, PPE usage (safety shoes and hearing protection), and safe material handling practices.
  • Maintain constant awareness of moving machinery, nip points, conveyors, stop buttons, and guarding systems.
  • Correctly use and maintain guards, gates, chains, and safety devices always.
  • Immediately shut down equipment and notify supervision if unsafe conditions, malfunctions, or major issues occur.
Operational Support & Equipment Setup
  • Operate and assist with stacker equipment and support operators across multiple machines as needed.
  • Assist with equipment setup and changeovers, including:
