Job summary

U-Haul in Glendale, AZ is hiring a Machine Operator. Under the Department Manager, you will operate brake press machines, read blueprints and perform quality checks as part of daily production. Training may be provided and a paid hands-on interview is offered, plus a $100 hiring bonus.

You will maintain the machine, follow safety policies, and use basic computer tools to support manufacturing, with opportunities to join a dynamic team on upcoming projects.

Qualifications

• High level of mechanical aptitude required.
• Experience with brake press machines.
• Must read, write and speak English.

• Must pass print reading, measurement, and fraction/decimal conversion tests.

Responsibilities

• Access programs, set tools, operate and troubleshoot brake press machines.
• Follow work orders, blueprints, sketches or verbal instructions.
• Perform daily machine maintenance.
• Read blueprints and work instructions to determine operations.
• Use calipers, micrometers, tape measures and squares for quality checks.
• Follow safety procedures and quality policies.
• Monitor machine operation to detect malfunctions.
• Support housekeeping, safety and quality practices.

NOTE: U-Haul is recruiting for this role with the length of this position to coincide with specific project or projects for which you will be assigned. This position therefore contemplates and will end at the conclusion of the project or projects on which you are working.

Essential Duties

• Responsible for accessing programs, setting tools, operating and troubleshooting of brake press machines for production.
• Perform duties as specified by work orders, blueprints, sketches or verbal instructions.
• Conduct daily maintenance on machine.
• Reads and interprets blueprints and work instructions to determine appropriate operations to be performed.
• Uses inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, tape measures and squares to perform quality checks on parts as outlined by the work instructions.
• Ensure all jobsite safety procedures and standards are followed and met.
• Observe and listen to machine operation to detect malfunctions during the manufacturing process.
• Understand, support, and implement the company Housekeeping, Safety and Quality policies and procedures into daily work habits.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
