The Opportunity:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Machine Operator to join our Fabrication Team. This role is responsible for operating and maintaining fabrication equipment such as CNC lasers, press brakes, and punch machines to produce precision metal components used in electrical switchboards, motor control centers, and other power distribution equipment. What You’ll Do:

Machine Operation & Production

  • Set up, program, and operate fabrication machinery, including CNC lasers, press brakes, and punch machines.
  • Produce sheet metal, copper, and fabricated components according to engineering drawings, work orders, and production schedules.
  • Select and install proper tooling, dies, punches, and machine settings for each production run.
  • Load and unload materials safely and efficiently while maintaining production flow.
  • Support fabrication operations by learning additional processes, including spot welding, as needed.

Quality Control & Precision Manufacturing

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate fabrication.
  • Inspect completed parts using measuring tools such as calipers, tape measures, and gauges to verify dimensional accuracy.
  • Identify and document defects, non-conformances, and quality concerns according to company procedures.
  • Ensure all manufactured parts meet customer specifications, engineering requirements, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to resolve quality issues and improve production outcomes.

Equipment Maintenance & Safety

  • Perform routine machine inspections, maintenance checks, lubrication, and calibration activities.
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and report major maintenance concerns promptly.Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and machine operating guidelines.
  • Wear and properly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment that supports safe operations.
  • Work closely with Fabrication Supervisors, Material Handlers, and fellow operators to meet production goals.
  • Assist in organizing completed parts and maintaining accurate work order documentation.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and production improvement initiatives.
  • Recommend opportunities to improve machine efficiency, workflow, and product quality.Support department objectives by maintaining productivity, reliability, and attention to detail.

What You Bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating fabrication machinery in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with CNC lasers, press brakes, punch machines, or similar fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools and quality inspection techniques.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to lift and handle materials up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while conducting audits and facility inspections.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to lift bulky or awkwardly shaped items weighing up to 35 pounds from floor level or above shoulder height.
  • Ability to safely perform team lifts for items exceeding individual lifting limits or involving ergonomic challenges such as uneven weight distribution or repetitive motion.
  • Ability to work effectively in varying environmental conditions, including heat and cold exposure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CNC Machine Operator certification preferred.
  • Welding certification or spot welding experience preferred.OSHA 10-Hour General Industry certification preferred.
  • Experience within electrical equipment manufacturing or sheet metal fabrication environments.
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures and fabrication best practices.
  • Familiarity with lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and manufacturing safety standards.Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
