Job summary

Luxfer Gas Cylinders is hiring a Machine Operator for the Riverside, CA area. The 2nd shift runs 4pm-12:30am, Monday through Friday with potential overtime and a Saturday schedule when required.

The role involves safe startup/shutdown of machinery, loading/unloading parts, monitoring quality, performing setups and minor troubleshooting, and maintaining a clean 5S work environment. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED and at least 1 year of manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Start up, operate, monitor, and shut down machines safely according to SOPs.
• Load unfinished parts into machines and remove finished parts safely.
• Monitor machine operation to ensure quality and performance.
• Check part quality using designated measurement instruments and stop the machine if issues arise.
• Perform routine setup, checks, and minor troubleshooting.
• Operate sanding tools and additional equipment to support the process.
• Make adjustments to machines to optimize performance and results.
• Produce high-quality parts according to targets, schedules, and specs.

Essential functions:

• Participate in Luxfer’s culture of safety by maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) as described.
• Start up, operate, monitor, and shut down machines safely without supervision according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the work center.
• Load unfinished parts into machines and remove finished parts safely.
• Monitor machine operation to ensure consistent performance and product quality.
• Check part quality using designated measurement instruments; understand when and how to stop the machine safely if issues arise.
• Perform routine set-up, periodic checks, and minor troubleshooting as required.
• Operate sanding tools and additional equipment to support the manufacturing process.
• Make necessary adjustments to machines to optimize performance and improve results.
• Produce high-quality parts according to manufacturing targets, schedules, and specifications.
• Assume responsibility for ensuring that all duties are performed in a safe and efficient manner.
• Keep a clean and orderly work area, adhering to 5S standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Education and/or Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED Preferred.

Machine Operators are required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms for extended periods, and to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, and operate tools, equipment, or materials in repetitive tasks. The role frequently requires lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 25 pounds continuously. Occasionally moving equipment or parts up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Work is performed in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical hazards, and moderate-to-loud noise levels. Employees must consistently wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel toe boots, safety glasses, and ear protection, with additional PPE (such as gloves or a hard hat) required as appropriate by department or task.
