Job summary

Steel Technologies LLC is seeking a Slitter Operator in Greensburg, IN to set up and operate a slitter per customer specs and work orders. You will inspect equipment, measure dimensions, line up parts, and produce material per instructions while maintaining safety and quality standards.

You will perform routine set-ups, reconcile coils, thread through the head, and assist with maintenance as needed. Strong measurement skills and adherence to safety are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Complete set-up and operational tasks of slitting to ensure compliance with customer specifications and production requirements.
  • Use tape measures, Rockwell tester, micrometers and calipers.
  • Comply with safety rules and requirements.
  • Able to lift up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Make and inspect arbor and overarm set-ups to ensure compliance with production instructions.
  • Reconcile coil identity to production and load coil.
  • Thread coil through slitter head, cropping non-complying material.
  • Thread mults into recoiler.
  • Maintain production and quality standards by measuring and verifying before during and after processing.
  • Check and record gauge width, hardness, camber, burr and surface condition.
  • Set gauge monitoring system and ensure gauge calibration.
  • Adjust machine setup to correct defects during slitting.
  • Communicate non-compliance production to supervisor and/or shift lead.
  • Band/secure and identify slit mults.
  • Assist maintenance to troubleshoot malfunctions or complete preventative maintenance as necessary.
  • Remove scrap from machine and empty hopper.
  • Clean slitter and surrounding area.

Overview

As a Slitter Operator at Steel Technologies, your main responsibility is to setup and operate a slitter according to customer specifications and work orders. You’ll perform regular equipment inspection and measure dimensions, align parts and produce material according to production instructions.


Responsibilities


  • Make and inspect arbor and overarm set-ups to ensure compliance with production instructions

  • Reconcile coil identity to production and load coil

  • Thread coil through slitter head, cropping non-complying material

  • Thread mults into recoiler
