Job Description
Machine Operator II

The Machine Operator II is an experienced production team member who sets up, operates, monitors, and troubleshoots manufacturing equipment while maintaining high standards of product quality, safety, and production efficiency. This role carries increased technical responsibility and independence, including performing advanced machine functions, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and assisting with training less experienced operators.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and adjust manufacturing equipment to meet specific production requirements and schedules.
  • Monitor machine performance continuously and make process adjustments to maintain optimal efficiency and consistent product quality.
  • Perform machine startups, shutdowns, and changeovers in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting on equipment to identify and resolve minor mechanical or process issues.
  • Inspect products for dimensional accuracy, visual defects, and packaging quality to ensure they meet established quality standards.
  • Document production data, quality inspection results, and equipment issues accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Train and mentor new Machine Operator I employees on equipment operation, safety procedures, and best practices.
  • Coordinate with maintenance personnel to communicate and resolve equipment-related concerns and support timely repairs.
  • Ensure raw materials, packaging materials, and supplies are available and properly staged for production runs.
  • Maintain consistent production output while working to minimize downtime and waste.
  • Follow all safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), quality, and company policies and procedures.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and audit-ready by following housekeeping and 5S practices.
  • Report production, quality, and safety concerns promptly to supervisors to support continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience in machine operation within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Ability to set up, operate, and adjust manufacturing equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Hands-on experience with general production and general labor tasks in a factory setting.
  • Skill in basic troubleshooting of equipment and processes to resolve routine issues.
  • Familiarity with lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures to ensure safe equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively for equipment adjustments and minor repairs.
  • Capability to read and interpret blueprints or production specifications to ensure correct setup and output.
  • Understanding of plastic processes and how they impact machine settings, product quality, and production efficiency.
  • Strong attention to detail for inspecting products for dimensional, visual, and packaging defects.
  • Ability to document production data, quality checks, and equipment issues clearly and accurately.
  • Commitment to following safety, GMP, and quality policies at all times.

  • Experience mentoring or training less experienced machine operators or production staff.
  • Comfort working with structured training programs and standard operating procedures.
