Machine Operator - 1st Shift (Manufacturing)

Job Title: Machine Operator

Reports To: Operations Supervisor - Folding

Classification: Full Time/Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

Operate machinery safely and according to established procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Follow all safety procedures, including ensuring machine guards are in place, wearing appropriate PPE, and reporting all near misses and incidents immediately.
2. Inspect the quality of envelopes, measure windows, and inspect printing.
3. Lift stacks of envelope blanks to feed the machine.
4. Read job orders and confirm envelope configurations per specifications.
5. Count and record production.
6. Maintain orderliness, keep work area free of debris, clean, and sweep as needed.
7. Operate machinery in the absence of the adjuster and assist with giving breaks to other operators.
8. Perform other duties as assigned by the department supervisor or lead.

Education and Experience:

Physical Requirements:

Ability to move, walk, stand, and lift continuously throughout the shift. Finger and hand dexterity required. May need to reach, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, or crouch at odd angles. The environment involves concrete floors.

Occasionally lift/move objects up to 25 pounds; move items over 100 pounds with mechanical assistance.

Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, with the ability to distinguish colors.

The manufacturing environment involves exposure to loud noises, temperature variations, moving machinery, and working at heights or precarious places.
