Job Summary

How you will make an Impact

As a Machine Operator in the Fill area, you will set up and operate conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic parts.

Responsibilities
  1. Design and develop tools, jigs, and fixtures used in production.
  2. Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, and setup requirements.
  3. Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on materials or workpieces.
  4. Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and attachments on machines.
  5. Calculate and set controls for machining factors or input commands for computerized control media.
  6. Start and observe machine operations, detect malfunctions, and adjust controls as needed.
  7. Verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications.
  8. Set up and operate machines on trial runs to verify accuracy.
  9. Assemble parts into complete assemblies and verify dimensions and alignment.
  10. Install machined replacement parts and test operation.
  11. Operate welding equipment to cut or weld parts.
  12. Develop specifications and drawings for parts or products.
  13. Collaborate with engineers and production personnel to resolve machining or assembly issues.
Qualifications

Required Experience

  • One to three months of related experience or training.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Completed machinist courses at an accredited technical school, including passing a written test.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Physical ability to stand, handle, reach, walk, talk, hear, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
