Job summary

thyssenkrupp Materials NA is seeking a material handler to apply metal to customer orders and accurately process material per work orders on the warehouse floor around heavy machinery.

The role requires safety-minded individuals who can operate material handling equipment, set up and inspect processes, and maintain clean, orderly work areas while meeting documentation requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
• Basic math skills.
• Safety mindset.

Responsibilities

• Must be certified in the material handler position.
• Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
• Pull, inspect and verify product before processing.
• Set up equipment to run material to spec.
• Process set up notes per work order specifications.
• Verify product meets set up note specifications and record measurements.
• Communicate with sales regarding order changes/clarifications.
• Perform preventive maintenance and general clean-up.
• Enter/delete material identification tags as instructed.
• Assist in packaging per work instructions and order.
• Maintain equipment in working condition and measure with scales.
• Identify, record, and segregate scrap and non-conforming material.
• Provide feedback on machine efficiency and product quality.
• Complete tasks safely; train others when required.
• Assist with lean and/or quality activities.

Key Accountabilities

• Must be certified in the material handler position.
• Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
• Pull, inspect and verify product before processing.
• Properly and safely set up equipment to run material to set up note specifications.
• Process set up notes according to work order specifications.
• Verify that product meets set up note specifications per written work instructions and record measurements (sampling plan).
• Communicate with appropriate sales representative regarding changes/clarification to orders.
• Perform equipment preventive maintenance; Perform general clean-up.
• Properly enter/delete material identification tags per written instructions.
• Assist in the packaging of material per written work instructions and work order.
• Maintain issued measurement equipment in working condition.
• Properly operate weighing scale and record inspection measurements.
• Identify, record, and segregate scrap and any non-conforming material.
• Provide feedback to supervision regarding machine efficiency and product quality.
• Complete job responsibilities in a manner that does not put him/herself or other individuals in an unsafe situation.
• Train others when required.
• Assist in any activities related to lean and/or quality.
• This is a position that works directly on the warehouse floor on or around heavy machinery.

Preferred Requirements

• Previous warehouse experience - especially in the metals industry
• Previous forklift experience
• Use of hand held measuring tools
• Computer literate.

Job Compensation

$19.69 - $26.64
