GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

Machine Operator 1 (MO1) is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing company railway maintenance and inspection equipment. This position can operate Loram’s on track MOW equipment and/or on track vehicles with supervision in both operating and travel modes. You may be assigned to various types of equipment platforms based on business needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Lead comprehensive and appropriate job briefings during shifts and maintenance tasks.
• Follow safe work processes, procedures, and rules.
• Understand on track safety and explain specifics when asked.
• Locate emergency equipment and demonstrate correct operation.

Machine Operations and Technical Knowledge

• Conduct machine inspections, identify problems, and communicate conditions to supervisors; perform common repairs as instructed.
• Record and report parts used, including floor stock.
• Perform maintenance and repairs according to schedules and policies.
• Describe gauge and HMI functions related to machine operation.
• Document daily reports, personal expenses, lodging, and administrative reporting.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

• Internal: 3+ months working with Loram equipment or equivalent; some assignments require excavator experience.
• External: 2+ years of technical skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and machine operations.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Maintain Railroad Certifications, CPR/First Aid, valid Driver’s License.
• Minimum 1 year computer/technology background, MS Windows knowledge, preferred radiation experience, and ability to obtain a Class B CDL.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Includes 100% travel, physical demands, and variable conditions in a railroad environment. Must have excellent communication skills and physical ability to perform the role.
