General Description / Purpose

Machine Operator 1 (MO1) is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing company railway maintenance and inspection equipment. This position may operate Loram’s on track MOW equipment and/or on track vehicles under supervision in both operating and travel modes. Assignments depend on business needs and demands.

Essential Job Functions

Safety Focused

• Lead comprehensive job briefings during shifts and maintenance tasks.
• Follow safe work processes, procedures, and rules.
• Understand on track safety and explain specifics when asked.
• Locate emergency equipment and demonstrate correct operation.

Machine Operations and Technical Knowledge

• Conduct machine inspections, identify problems, and perform common repairs as instructed. Provide feedback for maintenance decisions.
• Record and report parts used, including floor stock.
• Perform maintenance and repairs per schedules and policies.
• Describe gauge and HMI functions related to machine operation.
• Document daily reports, expenses, lodging, and other administrative tasks.
