Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands in Woodland, CA is hiring a Machine Operator I to set up and run heavy machinery for cutting, punching, forming, and processing. You will read blueprints, operate CNC presses/lasers, and maintain equipment with a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Prior manufacturing experience and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds are required. The role offers a base pay range of $23.00–$25.50 per hour, with benefits including medical, dental, vision starting day 1, plus 401k

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one year of related manufacturing experience.
  • Experience operating manufacturing machinery and/or equipment.
  • Able to read a tape measure and use measuring gauges.
  • Flexible with overtime and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate heavy machinery for cutting, punching, forming, and related tasks.
  • Interpret blueprints and specifications to select materials.
  • Operate CNC-controlled machines with emphasis on safety and quality.
  • Perform routine maintenance and lubrication on equipment.
  • Maintain identification tags and part numbers for traceability.
  • Read schedules and follow posted instructions; maintain safety.
  • Propose cost-saving ideas to improve productivity and reduce waste.

Job description

Base pay range is $23.00 - 25.50 per hour

Shift Hours: 5:00AM - 1:30PM, hours may vary depending on operations

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Machine Operator I is responsible for setting up and operating heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations. They must have thorough knowledge of production techniques and the ability to produce quality-building parts.

Understands and follows safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and around a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to set-up and operate machinery and equipment to cut, punch, form, or paint quality finished or semi-finished parts.
  • Ability to operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment.
  • Operate various CNC-controlled machines, such as presses, lasers, and rolling mills in a fast-paced production setting, with an emphasis on safety and quality
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required to maintain proper operation.
  • Marks part numbers, order numbers, and the number of pieces on parts. Attaches identification tags as required for customer to have the ability locate correct parts.
  • Interprets blueprints, specifications, and other technical data to select the correct raw material or semi-finished parts.
  • Maintains continuous improvement practices in work area.
  • Provide cost-saving suggestions and ideas to improve productivity and eliminate waste
  • Utilize scanning equipment
  • Inspect work visually for defects according to Quality Systems
  • Read a tape measure, write, and follow posted schedules
  • Team player and keeping safety first
  • May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader
  • Willing/able to work overtime
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • A minimum of one year of related work experience in manufacturing or comparable work environment
  • A minimum of one year operating manufacturing machinery and/or equipment
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Experience with hand tools, wrenches, banding equipment and nail guns
  • Able to use of measuring gauges
  • Able to read a tape measure
  • Forklift experience a plus / Must be trainable on forklift
  • Crane experience a plus / Must be trainable on crane
  • Flexible with working overtime and weekends when needed
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist

This is a position with the potential of overtime. The shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours long depending on work orders for the day and season of the year.

The US pay range for this full-time position is $23.00 per hour to $25.50 per hour + medical, dental, vision benefits starting day 1 + 401k and PTO. (Full-time is defined as regularly working 30+ hours per week. Union programs may vary depending on the collective bargaining agreement.)
