Job summary

Pratt & Whitney, part of RTX, is hiring for an onsite production operator in Asheville, NC. You will read work instructions, set up milling/grinding and measurement devices, and operate equipment across the line.

You will maintain machines, obtain operator certification, and work with engineers and QA to resolve machining problems while supporting department objectives. This role requires US citizenship and shift availability.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma/GED is required.

  • Previous manufacturing experience or education or Advanced Manufacturing Certification.

This is an AWW2 Weekend Night Shift position: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 6pm- - 6:30am

What You Will Do:

  • Read and interpret work instructions
  • Strong computer skills
  • Set up and operate a variety of production equipment and measuring devices. Examples may include milling/grinding machines, furnaces, peening machines, part wash machines, coating machines, airflow/water flow machines, calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.
  • Work from operation sheets, work instructions, part travelers, and oral instruction to set up equipment within the assigned business unit, involving a limited number of surfaces to be machined.
  • Obtain operator certification to be able to accept/reject parts.
  • Maintain machines by performing required total preventative maintenance (TPM).
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, quality assurance, programmers and other production personnel or others to resolve machining problems and assist in part process development (if applicable).
  • Frequently move about the machine line to operate various manufacturing equipment (approximately 90% of the time), bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, transport product and/or equipment weighing up to 10 pounds
  • May be assigned to carry out tasks not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program / contract
  • Previous Manufacturing experience or education or Advanced Manufacturing Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years Machine Operator or Manufacturing Experience
  • Ability to make computations involving decimals and fractions
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Strong computer skills
