Job summary

Pratt Whitney in Asheville, NC is seeking a Machine Operator for a weekend daytime shift (Fri-Sun, 6pm-6:30am). You will read work instructions, set up and operate a range of production equipment, and use measuring devices to ensure part quality.

You’ll collaborate with engineers and QA, perform TPM on machines, and advance part processes. The role requires HS Diploma and U.S. citizenship. The site offers comprehensive benefits and a strong manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma/GED is required.
• U.S. citizenship is required for access to information under this program/contract.
• Previous Manufacturing experience or education or Advanced Manufacturing Certification.
• 2+ years Machine Operator or Manufacturing Experience preferred.
• Ability to compute decimals and fractions.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities; strong verbal and written communication.
• Strong computer skills are beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret work instructions.

• Work from operation sheets and travelers to set up equipment.
• Obtain operator certification to accept/reject parts.

• Move around the line operating equipment for ~90% of the shift.
• May perform other duties to support department objectives.

This is an AWW1 Weekend Day Shift position: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 6pm-630am

What You Will Do:

• Read and interpret work instructions
• Strong computer skills
• Set up and operate a variety of production equipment and measuring devices. Examples may include milling/grinding machines, furnaces, peening machines, part wash machines, coating machines, airflow/water flow machines, calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.
• Work from operation sheets, work instructions, part travelers, and oral instruction to set up equipment within the assigned business unit, involving a limited number of surfaces to be machined.
• Obtain operator certification to be able to accept/reject parts.
• Maintain machines by performing required total preventative maintenance (TPM).
• Work collaboratively with engineers, quality assurance, programmers and other production personnel or others to resolve machining problems and assist in part process development (if applicable).
• Frequently move about the machine line to operate various manufacturing equipment (approximately 90% of the time), bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, transport product and/or equipment weighing up to 10 pounds
• May be assigned to carry out tasks not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

• HS Diploma/GED
