Location Description

Our plant, located in Lansing, IL, pasteurizes raw eggs to remove harmful bacteria for a safer product to the foodservice industry.

Responsibilities

Position Summary: This position is responsible for complying with safety work rules at all times and reinforcing safety as a core value. Ensures all policies, procedures, and activities related to food safety and quality are followed to reduce product and process variability. Ensures regulatory compliance. Assists the shift supervisor in managing the Packaging/Pelbo Department.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in training processing and production personnel, updating training as needed.
  • Help maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  • Maintain sanitation standards of the facility.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy workplace, adhering to safety policies and procedures.
  • Direct work for packaging operators and utility staff for efficient, accurate, and safe operations.
  • Coordinate with processors regarding system readiness, product types, and sterilization to meet production requirements.
  • Maintain effective relationships within the department and with other areas.
  • Verify documentation accuracy for USDA and company records.
  • Work closely with pasteurizer and packaging leads to ensure smooth product flow.
  • Manage incoming pasteurized eggs, maintaining FIFO to prevent timing issues.
  • Communicate during shift changes to ensure proper information transfer.
  • Adhere to quality practices, GMPs, and sanitation, reporting any issues affecting safety or quality.
  • Operate the Pelbo machine per supervisor instructions, ensuring no jams and proper sanitation.
  • Follow PPE, GMP, HACCP, SOP, SSOP, USDA regulations, and keep records updated.
  • Report maintenance issues affecting productivity, safety, or quality.
  • Encourage employee suggestions for improvement.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and safety compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs repeatedly, bend, stoop, reach, and work indoors in humid environments.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions and work independently.
  • Good hand/eye coordination, basic mechanical skills, and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to follow GMPs, safety regulations, and wear PPE; capable of obtaining PIT certification.
Skills

Ability to read and interpret safety and operational documents, write routine reports, speak effectively, perform basic math, and apply common sense to instructions. Additional skills include operating specific equipment, computer literacy, and possibly fluency in another language.

The pay range for this position is $17.00 to $20.00 per hour.
