Job summary

Doing Steel Fabrication, LLC is seeking a Machine Operator I for entry-level work in our fabrication shop. You will learn and operate multiple machines, read blueprints, and contribute to safe, timely production of parts to standard drawings.

The role requires teamwork, basic mechanical knowledge, and adherence to safety protocols. A 10-hour day shift with day or 2nd shift is available, with strong benefits and weekly pay.

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and structural processes and equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints, sketches or specifications.
  • Commitment to safety standards and protocols, including lockout/tagout.
  • Ability to learn operating multiple machines within one year.

Responsibilities

  • Operates mobile crane equipment for rigging and hoisting.
  • Sets up and operates machines to produce parts to standard blueprints.
  • Grinds and paints according to specifications where required.
  • Operates presses, shears, saws, rolls and related equipment as needed.
  • Supports warehouse tasks, inventory, and order processing.
  • Collaborates with warehouse, production, and logistics teams for safe loading/unloading.

JOB DESCRIPTION Machine Operator 1

This role is entry level and requires basic knowledge of mechanical and structural processes and equipment. Machine Operators 1 will need to have the ability to operate or learn to operate (within one year) numerous machines and equipment. The ability to understand verbal and written instructions is essential and ability to work in a team environment as well as independently while adhering to all safety standards and protocols is key. Knowledge of and ability to adhere to Lock/out Tag/out protocols consistently and without fail.

Essential Job Functions
  • Operates mobile crane equipment and directs the rigging and hoisting of equipment.
  • Sets up and operates machines to make production parts to standard shop blueprints.
  • Grinding where grade and type of abrasives are being determined by others.
  • Paints where finish or compliance to specifications are critical.
  • Operates machines that require minimal skills and experience, such as presses, shears, saws, rolls, etc.
  • May perform various warehouse activities involving receiving, special order and inventory.
  • Collaborate with warehouse, production, and logistics teams to ensure efficient, safe loading and unloading operations.
  • Ensure safe, timely loading and unloading processes.
  • Guide and train coworkers to promote continuous and efficient performance.
  • Maintains a clean work environment.
  • Performs other duties requiring similar skills and abilities as assigned.
  • Regular, in-person attendance due to necessary teamwork and personal interactive nature of this position.
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Experience with trucks under three tons (i.e. tractors and fork-trucks), mobile crane equipment and overhead cranes.
Schedule:
  • 10-hour shift
  • Day shift or 2nd shift
  • Monday to Friday
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Exposure to dust, fumes, noise and high-degree varying seasonal temperatures. Machinery with energy sources including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, or other energy.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, handle, grasp or feel; reach with hands and arms climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Additional effort requirements consist of, but are not limited to, lifting, pushing and pulling material, stairs, and ladders. When there is an occasion to move heavy material greater than 50 pounds, the operator will request assistance from another team member or utilize provided lifting equipment.
