Job summary

J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers in the United States seeks workers to operate production machinery and hand tools to cut, fabricate, align, and assemble metal components. You will read blueprints, adjust machine settings, and ensure parts meet quality standards with burn table experience preferred.

Responsibilities include setting up fabricating machines, performing CNC cutting, verifying tolerances, and coordinating with engineers to resolve issues while maintaining safety and ISO 9001 QMS

Qualifications

  • Vocational/technical training or a high school diploma with relevant industrial experience.
  • Experience reading blueprints and interpreting specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Locate and mark workpiece bending and cutting lines per specs.
  • Study engineering drawings and determine task sequences.
  • Move parts into position manually or with hoists/cranes.
  • Set up and operate fabricating machines to bend, cut, form, or assemble metal components.
  • Operate CNC cutting equipment to perform profile cutting of aluminum and steel.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions and adjust controls.
  • Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
  • Confer with engineers or production staff to resolve problems.
  • Safely perform duties; wear PPE.
  • Observe ISO 9001 QMS requirements.

Job Overview

J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers is looking for individuals to operate production machinery and hand tools to cut, fabricate position, align, and assemble parts. Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams, and specifications and adjusts machine settings to produce parts and assemblies in a timely fashion and to an acceptable level of quality. Burn table experience is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Locate and mark workpiece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications.
  • Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine task sequences.
  • Move parts into position, manually or by using hoists or cranes.
  • Set up and operate fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components.
  • Operate Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) cutting equipment such as plasma, oxyfuel, laser, or water jet to perform profile cutting of aluminum and steel products.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Safely perform duties; wear always required PPE.
  • Observes and complies with all the provisions of the ISO 9001 QMS.
Education and Experience
  • Vocational/technical training needed or a high school diploma or general education degree with work experience in an industrial setting.
