Job summary

J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers is seeking a 2nd shift Machine Operator to operate production machinery and hand tools to cut, fabricate, position, align, and assemble metal parts.

You will read blueprints and specifications, adjust machine settings, and verify finished parts meet quality standards. Burn table experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience reading blueprints, diagrams or specifications.
• Vocational/technical training or HS diploma with industrial experience.
• Ability to set up and operate fabricating tools.

Responsibilities

• Locate and mark workpiece lines considering stock and specs.
• Study engineering drawings to determine task sequence.
• Move parts into position using hoists or cranes.
• Set up and operate fabricating machines (brakes, rolls, shears, drills).
• Operate CNC cutting equipment to profile cut aluminum and steel.
• Start and monitor machines, adjust controls as needed.
• Verify conformance of finished parts to specs.
• Consult with engineers and production staff to resolve issues.
• Wear PPE and comply with ISO 9001 standards.

Job description

J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers is seeking a 2nd shift Machine Operator to operate production machinery and hand tools to cut, fabricate, position, align, and assemble parts. Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams, and specifications and adjusts machine settings to produce parts and assemblies in a timely fashion and to an acceptable level of quality. Burn table experience is preferred.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following

• Locate and mark workpiece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications.
• Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine task sequences.
• Move parts into position, manually or by using hoists or cranes.
• Set up and operate fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components.
• Operate Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) cutting equipment such as plasma, oxyfuel, laser, or water jet to perform profile cutting of aluminum and steel products.
• Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
• Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
• Confere with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
• Safely perform duties; wear always required PPE.
• Observe and comply with all the provisions of the ISO 9001 QMS.

Education And Experience

• Vocational/technical training needed or a high school diploma or general education degree with work experience in an industrial setting.
