Job summary

Snap-on is seeking a Weld Shop Associate to operate various production machines and cross-train across functions. You will set up equipment, perform quality checks, and ensure adherence to procedures to deliver high-quality parts.

The role requires reading and following instructions, teamwork, and strong math and mechanical aptitude. You will also handle packing, inventory control, and safe, clean operations; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior machine experience preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to interpret written orders, instructions, procedures, etc.
  • Basic math aptitude including ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, work with decimals and fractions and read a tape measure.
  • Mechanically inclined and quality oriented.
  • Knowledge of and ability to work with precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers; metrology certification a plus.
  • Ability to stand, twist, turn, reach and bend.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production machinery and cross-train as necessary.
  • Set up equipment and adjust to produce quality product and meet metrics.
  • Perform in-process quality checks and visually inspect prior work.
  • Perform basic tests to ensure finished product conforms to specifications.
  • Stop any process producing non-conforming product and notify management.
  • Perform packing, shipping and receiving functions including UPS processing.
  • Maintain inventory control, stock transfers and cycle counts.
  • Keep welding and cutting equipment in good working condition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

The Weld Shop Associate will safely operate various machines and equipment involved in all areas of production. Will be cross-trained to operate multiple machines in multiple functions. Must be able to perform each of these functions in a safe manner that ensures the production of a quality product in compliance with all quality and production standard operating procedures and requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in cross-training as necessary to learn to operate production machinery in accordance with specifications. Assigned machines may include welders, grinders, cutters, and similar equipment.
  • Set up equipment and make adjustments to equipment as necessary to produce quality product and meet established production metrics.
  • Perform in-process quality checks; visually inspect work done in previous operations before continuing to perform further operations.
  • Perform basic tests to ensure that all finished product conforms to product specifications.
  • Immediately stop performing any process that is producing non-conforming product and inform a member of management.
  • Perform picking, shipping and receiving functions including packing finished products, filling coil orders and UPS processing.
  • Perform inventory control functions including stock transfers, refills, cycle counting, etc.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment including keeping cutting and welding equipment in good working condition.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

  • Must be dependable and willing to work overtime and adjust schedule as necessary to meet business needs
