Job summary

Elite Staffing Inc. seeks a diligent Machine Operator (Collator Tender) in Reno, NV. Responsibilities include loading materials, configuring settings, and ensuring safety while operating various bag-making machines.

You will monitor output, perform quality checks, and document production metrics. Shifts run 6pm–6am, 3:30pm–11:30pm, or 7:30am–3:30pm, with pay ranging $20.66–$22.16 per hour and differential for second and third shifts.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical issues.
• Experience with industrial machinery, especially converting machines for paper products.
• Maintenance skills for routine upkeep and minor repairs.
• Ability to monitor product quality and adjust machine settings.

Responsibilities

• Load raw materials (paper rolls, glue) onto the bag machine.
• Configure machine settings based on bag size, type and specs.
• Ensure safety guards and devices are in place before starting.
• Operate the machine and monitor starting, running, and stopping as needed.
• Inspect produced bags for defects and adjust as needed for quality.
• Record production data: quantity, defects, downtime.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Clean machine and workspace to prevent jams and damage.
• Load finished bags onto pallets or conveyors and handle materials safely.
• Coordinate with warehouse for movement of materials.
• Report issues and production delays to supervisors and assist in changes.

Machine Operator

Collator Tender

The Collator Tender (Machine Operator) is responsible for the safe operation of various types of bag machines in order to produce high-quality bags. These may include, but are not limited to, shopping, merchandise, and grocery and sack machines.

Responsibilities:

• Loading raw materials (paper rolls, glue, etc.) onto the machine.
• Configuring machine settings based on bag size, type, and production specifications.
• Ensuring all safety guards and devices are in place before starting the machine.
• Operating the Machine:
• Stating, monitoring, and stopping the paper bag machine as needed.
• Adjusting machine controls to maintain product quality and efficient production.
• Monitoring the machine’s performance and product output continuously.
• Quality Control:
• Inspecting paper bags produced for defects (tears, improper folds, glue issues).
• Making necessary adjustments to ensure bags meet quality standards.
• Recording production data such as quantity, defects, and machine downtime.
• Routine Maintenance and Troubleshooting
• Cleaning the machine and workspace regularly to avoid jams and damage.
• Performing routine maintenance tasks like lubricating parts and replacing worn components.
• Identifying minor mechanical or electrical issues and troubleshooting to fix them or upscale major problems.
• Safety Compliance
• Following all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout during maintenance.
• Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Keeping the work area clean and free of hazards.
• Material Handling
• Loading finished bags onto pallets or conveyors.
• Handling raw materials safely and efficiently.
• Coordinating with warehouse or logistics for movement of materials
• Communication
• Reporting machine issues, production delays, or safety concerns to supervisors.
• Coordinating with team members for shift handovers or production changes.

Technical Skills/Abilities:

• Mechanical aptitude: Understanding of how machines work, ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical issues.
• Machine Operation: Familiarity with industrial machinery, especially converting machines that handle paper products.
• Maintenance skills: Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Quality control: Ability to monitor product quality and adjust machine settings accordingly.

Education and Experience:

• Two (2) years of machine operator experience or
• High School Diploma or GED preferred

$20.66-22.16 Depending on Shift

Shift differential is $1.00/hr for 2nd shift and 1.50/hr for 3rd shift.

3:30pm – 11:30pm

7:30am – 3:30pm
