Job summary

Louis Industries, Inc. is seeking a production operator to set up and run multiple fabrication machines. You will load raw materials, monitor quality, and log jobs in the ERP system.

Responsibilities include operating forklifts and cranes, maintaining a clean workspace, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to ensure on-spec parts are produced efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate production equipment including press brake, shear, ironworker, saw, spot welder, and tumbler.
• Manage workload to run multiple machines during shift.
• Safely operate forklift to handle raw materials and finished parts.
• Move materials with overhead and jib cranes; handle steel stock and scrap.
• Sort parts from laser-cut skeletons and palletize.
• Keep area clean and maintain equipment per safety regulations.
• Ensure products meet quality specifications; log work in ERP.
• Perform light maintenance and record inspections.

Job description

• Set up and operate some or all of the following production equipment: Press Brake, Shear, Ironworker, Saw, Spot Welder, and Tumbler (list is not all inclusive).
• Manage time effectively to operate several machines during the shift.
• Safely operate forklift to load and unload raw material and completed parts.
• Safely operate overhead crane and jib crane to move material.
• Handle assorted steel raw material and steel scrap.
• Separate/”pick” parts from skeletons that are cut on the laser and stack onto pallet/containers.
• Maintain work area and production equipment in clean and orderly condition. Follows all prescribed and standard safety regulations.
• Perform work in a manner that all products conform to prescribed quality standards.
• Perform light maintenance on plant equipment where needed; i.e., startup/shutdown, lockout/tagout procedures, maintaining inspection records and keeping work environment clean.
• Use and understand ERP system for clocking in, logging jobs, claiming parts
• Operate small electric/air hand tools.
• Responsible to produce quality parts that conform to prescribed quality standards and print specifications.
• Package parts using banding or shrink wrap, as needed.
• Follow all standard safety regulations.
• Participates in and supports continuous process improvement.
