If you’ve ever wondered what owning your own business is like, just ask an Employee Owner of Chatsworth Products (CPI). Better yet, become one! CPI has an immediate need for a Machine Operator in CPI’s New Bern, NC location.

As a CPI Machine Operator, you will play a key role in working with and for a company that builds the physical infrastructure that powers, protects, and secures the world’s digital technology. Your responsibilities include setting up and operating standard machines in the sheet metal area, and meeting safety, quality, and productivity expectations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Under minimal supervision, set up and operate equipment, including loading and unloading material.
  2. Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure safety compliance, including guarding. Correct safety issues before operating.
  3. Inspect parts according to work-in-process inspection procedures. Resolve quality and mechanical issues, making minor repairs and adjustments as needed.
  4. Requisition materials from the warehouse when necessary. Inspect materials for shipping damage or supplier defects.
  5. Maintain machines and tooling, keeping them clean and in good condition.
  6. Work from blueprints, engineering specifications, and production schedules.
  7. May operate a forklift for loading and unloading materials.
  8. Maintain a clean work area, dispose of trash and scrap, and assist in cleaning common areas.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Technical Competencies:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and engineering specifications; use measuring devices.
  • Set up machinery according to specifications.
  • Good mechanical skills and use of hand tools.
  • Troubleshooting skills to evaluate and correct operational problems.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely.
  • Read and understand manuals for operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, carrying, stooping, and crouching.
  • Lift up to 40 lbs.
