Job summary

Haldex is seeking a skilled machinist to operate multiple metalworking machines and inspect finished parts. The role requires accurate interpretation of blueprints and precise measurement with micrometers and calipers.

You will handle material movement with hand trucks and pallet jacks, and contribute to maintaining a safe, clean work environment. The position emphasizes adherence to safety protocols and active participation in company safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of multi-purpose metal working machines (e.g., screw machines, drill presses, lathes, grinders, presses).
• Read and interpret blueprints and dimensional drawings.
• Inspect parts using micrometers, dial gauges, and calipers.
• Move stock with hand trucks and pallet jacks; handle totes and bins.
• Follow plant safety program and policies; participate in safety initiatives.

Operates a variety of machines used in the production of air compressors, valves, clutches and water pumps.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of multi-purpose metal working machines, ie;automatic screw machine, drill press, bore and hone, turret lathe, centerless grinder, air and arbor press, mills, punch press, etc
• Possess excellent math skills
• Perform inspection of parts by use of highly accurate measuring instruments ie; micrometers, dial gauges, calipers, etc
• Read and interpret blueprints and dimensional drawing
• Move stock using hand trucks and pallet jacks
• Move tote boxes, trays, bins and other types of containers as required
• Adhere to plant Safety Program and policies
• Perform counts as required
• Maintain a clean work area, tools, and equipment
• Understand and actively participate in Haldex Way activities
• Perform other duties as required by supervisor

Physical Demands

• Must be able to work the required shift hours and any overtime as required
• Must be able to lift thirty to fiftypounds intermittently over a regularly scheduled work day (employees are not expected to lift more than they feel comfortable lifting alone and should ask for assistance or use any of the lifting devices available to prevent injury)
• Must be able to stand, walk or sit for the period of a regularly scheduled work day
• Must be able to bend over, grasp, push and pull heavy loads as required
• Must be able to use pneumatic tools, hand tools and various other machines such as electronic testers, manual testers, vices, presses, etc. as required

• HEARING: Must possess normal hearing ability due to safety considerations
