Our client is seeking a Machine Operator to join their team. As a Machine Operator, you will be part of the hard tool and lights out area supporting manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong safety mindset, a commitment to quality, and the drive to continuously improve processes, which will align successfully in the organization.
Job Title: Machine Operator II
Pay Range: $23.16
Shift: 3rd shift (9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.)
What's the Job?
- Operate and perform basic set ups with minimal supervision on metal fabricating machines to cut, bend, shape, drill, and form metal work pieces to meet specifications and support continuous production.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, engineering drawings, and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, sequence of operations, and material requirements.
- Complete first article inspection and detect/report defective materials or questionable conditions to support quality and conformance to work orders and drawings.
- Follow safety processes and maintain a clean, organized work area by using proper PPE, understanding JSA’s, applying 5S practices, and complying with all facility safety regulations.
- Collaborate across departments and shifts by communicating clearly with co-workers, coordinators, utilities, and management; report issues related to safety, quality, processes, equipment, and materials.
What's Needed?
- High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education plus 2 years of experience.
- Ability to operate and set up metal fabricating machines (training and certification will be provided to run a variety of machines such as Brake Press, Turret, Hairpin, Fin Press, Expander, and others).
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform first article inspection and verify conformance to blueprints and work orders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to read, communicate, and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, blueprints, and engineering drawings in English.
- Comfort using computers and software such as Microsoft Office (including Excel and Word) and ERP systems to look up blueprints, production orders, and key parts into inventory; also perform operator preventative maintenance of equipment.
