Pentair in Hanover Park, IL is hiring a Set‑Up Machine Operator. You will set up, operate and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment, support changeovers, conduct quality checks and maintain logs. The role requires handling materials, shipping/receiving tasks, and complying with safety procedures.

The position is full‑time, on site, with hourly pay around $22 and comprehensive benefits. Overtime, shift flexibility, and TPM participation are expected.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, interpret and follow standard work and work instruction procedures.
• Ability to read a micrometer and caliper, and other measuring devices.
• Basic computer skills including MS Word and Excel; experience with JDE is a plus.
• Physically capable of lifting 10–50 lbs and standing for extended periods.

Responsibilities

Set-Up Machine Operator – Hanover Park, IL At Pentair

We have an opportunity for a Set‑Up Machine Operator to join our Hanover Park, IL team. The Machine Operator Set‑Up is responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining manufacturing equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality production. This role supports machine changeovers, quality inspections, preventive maintenance activities, material handling, and cross‑functional production operations while adhering to all safety, quality, and operational standards. This role will report to the Operations Production Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot machine issues and interpret information displayed on Human Machine Interface (HMI) screens to support safe and efficient operations.
• Utilize pneumatic tools, hand tools, and other equipment required for machine setup, adjustment, and operation.
• Operate stand‑up and sit‑down forklift trucks safely and in accordance with company policies and training requirements.
• Change and load material coils to maintain uninterrupted machine operation.
• Accurately complete production, quality, and operational documentation, including production and quality logs.
• Support the proper identification, handling, and disposition of materials in accordance with established procedures.
• Maintain oil storage areas and can‑making workstations in an organized, clean, and clearly labeled condition.
• Assist in the inspection, polishing, and evaluation of rams and rings to identify wear, damage, or maintenance needs.
• Perform first‑piece quality inspections following changeovers and make necessary machine adjustments to ensure product specifications are met.
• Prepare and blend carbon materials multiple times per shift while following established carbon blending procedures.
• Provide operational support and cross‑coverage for additional production operations as needed.
• Assist Maintenance Technicians in diagnosing and troubleshooting machine and equipment issues.
• Support daily, weekly, and monthly Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) activities.
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a team to achieve production, quality, and safety objectives.
• Consistently demonstrate safe work practices and comply with all workplace safety policies, procedures, and requirements.

Key Qualifications

• Ability to read, interpret and follow standard work and work instruction procedures.
• Ability to read a micrometer, caliper and other various measuring devices.
• Basic computer skills, ability to work in MS applications (Word, Excel) and JDE.
• Basic Math skills.
• Basic knowledge of LEAN techniques.
• Must be able to lift frequently 10 - 25 lbs. and infrequently 25 - 50 lbs.
• Position also requires regular bending and reaching.
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with machine noise, lift truck traffic, and working temperatures that vary by season.
• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel‑toed footwear, as required by the work area.
• Remain on feet and perform job duties for up to 8‑hour shifts.
• Work overtime, weekends, and provide support for second and third shift operations as required to meet business needs.

Compensation

For this full‑time position working at this location, the anticipated hourly base pay range will be $22.00 per hour. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs.
