Qualifications

Position Overview

The Machine Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring automated packaging equipment, including ACP, SCU, and Singulator machines, to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production. This role supports daily production goals while maintaining high standards for Safety, Quality, and Production.

The Machine Operator performs equipment start-up and shutdown, loads production settings, monitors equipment throughout the production run, troubleshoots minor equipment issues, and completes required cleaning and end-of-shift procedures. This position works closely with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams to ensure equipment is operating properly and products meet quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Equipment & Production Operations
  • Start up and inspect production equipment to ensure machines are clean, operational, and ready for production

  • Select and load the appropriate production presets or recipes

  • Verify equipment is properly configured for each production run

  • Ensure sensors and equipment components are clean and functioning properly

  • Start, reset, and monitor equipment to maintain consistent production

  • Troubleshoot and respond to minor equipment issues, including jams and blockages

  • Communicate equipment concerns or recurring issues to Production and Maintenance

Safety & Quality
  • Follow all company safety, food safety, GMP, and quality procedures

  • Verify product expiration dates and obtain required Quality approval before loading product

  • Monitor production to ensure products meet established quality requirements

  • Follow all required machine safety and equipment procedures

  • Immediately report safety, quality, product, or equipment concerns to leadership

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area throughout the shift

Product & Material Handling
  • Monitor reject bins and prevent overfilling

  • Recycle, transfer, or dispose of rejected product according to established procedures

  • Pack and organize remaining product at the completion of production runs

  • Reassemble pallets and organize remaining materials as required

  • Ensure rejected materials and waste are handled and disposed of properly

End-of-Shift & Equipment Care
  • Complete equipment draining and shutdown procedures at the end of production

  • Ensure equipment is properly cleared at the end of the shift

  • Clean machines and remove remaining product and debris

  • Perform required routine equipment care and basic maintenance tasks

  • Leave equipment and surrounding work areas clean, organized, and ready for the next production cycle

Qualifications
  • Previous machine operator, production, packaging, or manufacturing experience preferred

  • Experience operating automated production equipment preferred

  • Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform routine quality checks

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills

  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; technical training or certification is a plus

Working Conditions

  • Requires repetitive movements and frequent use of hands

  • Must be able to perform routine equipment cleaning and basic maintenance tasks

  • Must be comfortable working around automated production machinery
