Job summary

Commercial Metals LTD in Glendale, AZ is seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to support our heavy industrial fabrication and rebar production. You’ll operate fabrication equipment such as shears, benders, cranes, and forklifts, follow established procedures, and help maintain a clean, safe work area while mentoring teammates as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Must lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
  • Ability to read technical documents and service manuals.
  • Ability to write job instructional training documents.
  • Strong teamwork and safety focus.
  • Willingness to work overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Attend training on applicable equipment.
  • Operate fabrication equipment per procedures.
  • Load fabricated rebar on trailers and unload stock.
  • Maintain clean, orderly work area and equipment.
  • Mentor teammates on equipment use.
  • Participate in safety programs.
  • Serve as leadman in absences.

What You'll Do
  • Attend training regarding applicable equipment
  • Perform additional duties as needed
  • Assist in loading fabricated rebar on trailers and unloading stock material from trailers
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition
  • Mentor and train team members on proper equipment useOperate production machines in accordance with established procedures and guidelines
  • Participates in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively upholds the CMC Safety Culture
  • Serve as the leadman in his/her absence, as necessary
  • Operate rebar fabrication equipment, such as shears, benders, cranes, forklift, threaders, forging, welders, etc.
What You'll Need
  • Must be able to work outside under all weather conditions to include working in the heat and cold weather
  • Able and willing to cross train as required
  • Follow OSHA, EPA, and company safety policies, rules, and regulations
  • Possess a strong work ethic and practice safe working habits
  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast paced environment, with strong work ethic, pay attention to detail and find root causes for issues
  • Ability to operate fabrication machines in a safe manner without supervision
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Able to work overtime as business requires
  • Minimum 3 years preferably in a heavy industrial environment experience
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and steps, work outside under all weather conditions when needed
  • Must be able to read technical documents and service manuals
  • Must be able to write job instructional training documents
  • Possess knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the industrial field
  • Excellent communication skills, in both written and verbal form are necessary to be successful in this role
  • Must be able to work overtime, either planned or unplanned for emergency situations
  • Must possess work ethic and ability to be punctual
Your Education
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
