Job summary

City of Lincoln is seeking a Machine Operator to perform advanced setup, operation, and monitoring of production in a designated work center. You will participate in safety, production, and quality improvements and assist with material flow.

This role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, solid communication, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work overtime as needed. A high school diploma or GED is preferred; forklift experience is a plus. Background checks and drug screening may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred plus trade school or military experience is a plus.
• Forklift experience is preferred and beneficial.
• Must lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Requires solid written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude including basic troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills required.
• Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy are required.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

Perform advanced set up, operation, and monitoring of production in a work center and participate in the continuous improvement process to address safety, production, and quality improvements. Additional tasks consist of assisting with material flow (loading, unloading, lifting, and moving material), and provide guidance to all support personal as required (laborers, material handlers, packers, etc.).

Job Duties

1. 1. Set up and maintain manufacturing equipment
2. 2. Operate equipment to fabricate, manufacture, assemble, or move product
3. 3. Conduct in-process quality checks and resolve issues as required
4. 4. Assist with equipment maintenance activities
5. 5. Maintain and monitor machine to ensure it functions properly
6. 6. Develop in-depth understanding of how assigned equipment functions
7. 7. Operate forklift as required to support manufacturing
8. 8. Interpret production work orders and record / report production data including scrap
9. 9. Maintain work area, equipment, and tools in a clean and organized manner
10. 10. Count, record, and report inventory as required including but not limited to sheet, coil and accessory stock, shop supplies, skids, cores, etc.
11. 11. Spin down pre-slit coil stock and complete appropriate packaging per specs of each order
12. 12. Load and unload will-call customers, LTL vans and flatbed trucks with forklift (includes palleted coils & sheets, load customer equipment and maintain / log all shipments) as required
13. 13. Able to be flexible and respond to the changing needs of the organization, including working overtime as required
14. 14. Comply with all safety rules and regulations
15. 15. Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education

A high school diploma or GED preferred; trade school or military experience a plus
