Job summary

Amphenol CIT in St. Augustine, FL, designs and manufactures high‑performance interconnects and medical devices. A Machine Operator ensures efficient operation of equipment, sets up processes from blueprints, and contributes to safety and lean improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints, set-up sheets, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of the finished workpiece.
  • Operates machine shop equipment under general supervision and reports problems to supervisor.
  • Visually inspect parts to ensure quality and perform secondary operations as required.
  • Measures dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
  • Maintains machines and replaces worn or broken tools.
  • Ensure workstation is clean, organized and free of hazards.
  • Adhere to factory safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Grow lean knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to team effort in a collaborative and supportive manner.
  • Other duties as required in support of the department and the company

SUMMARY

A Machine Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of machinery within our factory. The Machine Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining various types of equipment to facilitate production. Attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and ability to troubleshoot issues will contribute to the overall success of our operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Basic interpretation of blueprints, set-up sheets, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine the dimensions and tolerances of the finished workpiece.
  • Operates machine shop equipment under general supervision and makes leader aware of any problems as they occur.
  • Visually inspect parts to ensure quality and consistency, and perform secondary operations as required.
  • Measures dimensions of finished work piece to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
  • Maintains machines and removes and replaces broken or worn tools.
  • Make sure that the workstation is clean, organized, and free of hazardous materials.
  • Adheres to all factory safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Continue to grow lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.
  • Contributes to team effort in a collaborative and supportive manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Conversational in any other language is a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Basic arithmetic: add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
JOB SKILLS
  • Fundamental Skills, Beginner Level.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Ability to use inspection tools.
  • Ability to measure accurately using a ruler or tape measure.
  • Understanding and experience in a Lean manufacturing environment are preferred.
  • Participate in 5S-related performance teams.
  • Writing skills are required to complete documents and forms.
  • Problem-Solving ability.
  • Can operate the fladder machine, roller, belt sanders, DA sanders, and any other operation in the FabPrep area.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

As part of their job duties, the employee must be able to sit, stand, and walk throughout the day while frequently using their hands to handle objects and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to reach, stretch, push, pull, crouch, stoop, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. This role requires specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Hearing protection in specific locations.
