Job summary

Amcor Day Shift Injection Molding Operator needed to safely run multiple injection systems and ensure preform quality meets Amcor’s standards. You will monitor machine performance, record production, and communicate information at shift changes while maintaining GMP practices.

Responsibilities include visual inspection of preforms, adjusting profiles, collecting samples, coordinating with maintenance, and supporting the PM team.

Qualifications

  • Basic machine operation knowledge including injection molding systems and dryers.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English.
  • Ability to recognize and understand numbers and accurately enter data.
  • Proficient hand/eye coordination to operate equipment.
  • Ability to work all shifts and required overtime.
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate injection molding machines safely and monitor multiple systems on a 12-hour shift.
  • Maintain standard production objectives and accurately record production, reporting at shift changes.
  • Visually inspect preforms and adjust production profiles to ensure quality.
  • Collect daily samples, confirm regrind usage, and document quality testing.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance and PM teams; report machine deficiencies to the shift mechanic.
  • Maintain GMP and housekeeping in assigned areas and perform other duties as directed.

  • Maintains standard production objectives through proper machine operation and accurately records production. Communicates production information at shift change.
  • Knows and practices safe and proper start-up and shut-down procedures for each machine.
  • Visually inspect preforms.
  • Adjust production profile when required to obtain the finest perform quality.
  • Collect daily AA samples as per schedule provided.
  • Confirm regrind usage and percentage.
  • Has authority to stop machines/production to communicate machine problems and breakdowns to Production Supervisor and/or Maintenance.
  • Assist mechanic when the machine is down for maintenance (during PM).
  • Train material handler and injection room on basic machine operations.
  • Communicate clearly with all team members.
  • Communicate clearly with quality technicians when dealing with quality issues.
  • Work closely with PM team to improve skills and knowledge pertaining to machine operators.
  • Work on mold machines for preventative maintenance.
  • Report any machine deficiencies to shift mechanic.
  • Identify and prevent the possible causes of problems related to the profile or potential mechanical break.
  • Perform required quality testing and complete all production reports as well as completing daily checklist. Machine profile confirmation as per current profile sheet.
  • Review daily logbook.
  • Maintains housekeeping of all assigned areas. This includes applying Good Manufacturing Practices to meet plant goals.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by the production supervisor.

Education, Skills & Experience
  • Basic machine operation knowledge that includes profile knowledge of injection machine and dryers.
  • Machine mold and auxiliary equipment knowledge.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English.
  • Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values and enter this information into an on-line database accurately.
  • Ability to visually distinguish fine variations in color and other visual defects.
  • Proficient hand/eye coordination to operate equipment.
  • Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions and independent judgment calls based on the situation at hand.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively use a computer and related software.Ability to work all shifts and required overtime.
