Job summary

Aebi Schmidt Group in Charlotte, MI is seeking a Machine Operator to tend fabricating machines, perform setup, monitor quality, and keep equipment running. This regular full-time, hourly non-exempt role offers hands-on manufacturing experience and opportunities to contribute to safety and efficiency.

You will read blueprints, adjust stops, position pieces, measure defects, and perform minor maintenance while lifting up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to learn and navigate manufacturing software.
• Structured training or relevant work experience.
• Basic math skills.

Responsibilities

• Position work pieces against stops or align layout marks with die or blade.
• Push buttons or depress pedals to activate machines.
• Observe machine operation to detect work piece defects and machine malfunction.
• Measure work piece dimensions with necessary tools.
• Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust and scale from work pieces.
• Perform minor machine maintenance.

What you'll do:

Tends fabricating machines such as cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, and punch, that cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Read job specifications and blueprints to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
• Set stops and guides to specified length as indicated.
• Position work pieces against stops or align layout marks with die or blade.
• Push buttons or depress pedals to activate machines.
• Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects and machine malfunction.
• Measure work piece dimensions with necessary tools.
• Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust and scale from work pieces.
• Perform minor machine maintenance.
