Job summary

ABB is hiring for a CNC Operations & Setup role in an onsite Athens, GA facility. The technician will operate and set up CNC turning, drilling, and milling centers, reading blueprints and technical diagrams to manufacture precision parts. Safety, teamwork, and quality control are essential in this role.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and mechanical certification as required by ABB. Basic computer skills and a willingness to learn will support success in this position.

  • Follow safety policies and lockout/tagout procedures in a manufacturing environment.
  • Train coworkers and share knowledge as needed.

Each day, you will use machinery and equipment on the shop floor. You will also showcase your expertise by reading and interpreting the technical diagrams/instructions for assembly of products/systems/panels CNC Operations & Setup – Operate and set up CNC turning, drilling, and milling centers for multiple short production runs Precision Manufacturing – Machine cast iron and steel parts to specification using precision measuring instruments and maintain quality standards Technical Expertise – Demonstrate strong mechanical skills and comprehensive understanding of machinery and equipment operations Technical Documentation – Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, factory orders, routings, and internal documentation in multiple formats Communication – Understand and respond to verbal and written technical instructions in English Teamwork & Performance – Collaborate with teammates to meet department productivity and quality goals Safety & Compliance – Operate safely in industrial manufacturing settings, follow lockout/tagout and safety procedures, and adapt to shift work requirementsADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Conform to policies and procedures as an ABB employee. Perform housekeeping duties as required. Ability to move parts, tooling, or gauging to satisfy customer requirements, including certification on and use of powered industrial vehicles if required. Train, share knowledge & information with coworkers. Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. close to the body and 35 lbs. away from the body 60% of the time. More than 50 lbs. 40% of the time with assistance. The ability and willingness to use the company designated personal protective equipment. Visual acuity (corrected) to read directions, prints and gauges. Frequent bending, stooping, twisting and lifting (assisted and unassisted). Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
