Job summary

Progress Rail Services Corp. is seeking a production worker in Arab, AL to breakdown, wash, inspect, repair, and assemble train car bearings and components. You will operate overhead cranes and forklifts on either 1st or 2nd shift, with overtime and weekend requirements as needed.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma or GED and may have 6 months of machine operating experience. Safety and quality inspections are essential aspects of the role.

Key Job Elements:

Works with new and used railroad bearings;

Duties encompass inspecting parts and assembly line type duties to recondition freight car bearings;

Operate overhead cranes and forklifts;

Ability to work 1st shift (Mon - Fri 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM) or 2nd shift (Mon - Thurs 4:00 PM - 2:30 AM) with overtime and weekends required.

Education / Training:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Qualifications and Experience:

Prefer 6 months experience as machine operator, will consider equivalent school/training;

Must be able to perform quality inspections;

Read precision instruments and gauges;

Capable use of hand tools;

Work around overhead cranes and mobile equipment;

Work as an effective team member;
