Maintenance Technician - 3rd Shift
Reports to: Machine Maintenance Supervisor
Work Location: Clear Lake, SD

Exempt Status: Non-Exempt Salary: $29.00+ hr/DOE
Schedule: Monday – Thursday 7:30 pm to 6:00 am

Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician will set up, maintain and repair machinery and equipment.
Essential Job Functions
- Performs setup of equipment for new jobs and trains operators.
- Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
- Detects malfunction and discusses machine operation variation with Manufacturing Engineer to diagnose problems or repair machine.
- Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
- Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery.
- Responsible for maintenance activities that could generate hazardous waste and other environmental management responsibilities.
- Runs production jobs as required.
- Performs basic welding as needed to maintain facility equipment.
- May drive company vehicles as required.
- Performs other work‑related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (ITAR restrictions).
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 as required by the ATF.
- High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree or equivalent preferred. Six months to one year related experience preferred.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes preferred.
- Basic understanding of electronic components and ability to read/understand schematics.
- Basic welding experience or knowledge preferred.
- Ability to learn and develop proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and internal data systems.
- Ability to communicate and document effectively in English.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a driver’s license upon hire.
- Function‑specific RCRA training upon hire.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to multi‑task to support end results/ goals.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to set and establish priorities.
Physical Requirements And Work Environment
- Ability to talk and hear; communicate with others.
- Seated work up to 10% of the workday.
- Frequently required to stand for long durations; walk indoors and outdoors throughout the facility.
- Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to bend, kneel, or squat as needed.
- Lifting up to 10 pounds; move by lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds, or 50 pounds or greater with assistance.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, color vision, ability to adjust focus when viewing a computer monitor.
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, explosives.
- Ear protection required.
- Where required, employees must wear a minimum of 50% cotton clothing including undergarments to mitigate electrostatic discharge (ESD). Employees must also wear company‑issued safety footwear.
