Job Summary

The Machine Operator will operate machines and perform hand assembly and packaging of finished products, as well as make minor adjustments to machinery and/or equipment by following all instructions and safety rules.

Essential Job Functions
  • Operates machinery and/or equipment to produce quality products per customer specifications.
  • Performs assembly, sealing and/or inspection of products.
  • Follows work direction provided by Production Lead and/or Production Supervisor and attends Tier Meetings.
  • Has ability to read and understand procedures.
  • Completes accurate electronic and paper documentation.
  • Maintains a clean work area per quality and safety standards.
  • Has ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Complies with company safety standards and rules.
  • Demonstrates reliability evidenced through regular attendance.
  • Maintains a level of flexibility to meet company needs.
  • Informs Production Lead and team of any needed machine repairs or concerns.
  • Assists in reducing hazardous waste by operational proficiency.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States (ITAR restrictions).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to work at this facility.
  • Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for all employees of Tech Ord.
  • High School diploma or Equivalent (GED) required; experience in a production environment preferred.
  • Ability to communicate, read, understand and document effectively in English.
  • Has basic computer operations aptitude including data entry and word processing ability using Microsoft Word and Excel upon hire.
  • Function Specific RCRA training upon hire.
  • Ability to work effectively with all employees as part of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task in support of end-result/goal.
Physical Requirements And Work Environment

Depending on the business needs, product line/programs in operation in a given week, physical requirements will vary, as each machine and product line requires varying expectations of sitting, standing, lifting, etc.

  • Ability to talk and hear in order to communicate with others.
  • Seated work for up to 30% of the workday.
  • Frequently required to stand and/or walk throughout the facility including both indoors and outdoors.
  • Requires frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Must have ability to bend over and reach into machines as well as ability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Minimal lifting of 10 pounds is required. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds and rarely lifting 50 pounds or greater with assistance.
  • Must be able to move materials by pushing, pulling or lifting.
  • Bending, kneeling, or squatting is required to move materials and perform other tasks.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus when viewing a computer monitor.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives.
  • Ear protection is required as identified throughout the facility.
  • Where required employees must wear a minimum of 50% cotton clothing including undergarments to mitigate electrostatic discharge (ESD). Employees must also wear company issued safety-toed conductive footwear.
