Job description

The Machine Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing all machine-related maintenance (scheduled or unscheduled), the installation of new equipment, and troubleshooting/repair of molding machines and auxiliary equipment.

Starting Pay: $24/Hour

Status: Hourly/Non-Exempt

Department: Maintenance

Reports to: Machine Maintenance Manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform general routine mechanical maintenance functions to ensure that machines are running at an optimal level (25% of time, Essential)
• Perform unscheduled maintenance as needed to minimize downtime (20% of time, Essential)
• Assist with the setup and/or movement of machines and auxiliary equipment using PIV equipment as needed (10% of time, Non-Essential)
• Respond to requests by production to troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures, minimizing downtime (30% of time, Essential)
• Be available for on-call assignments as indicated by management (15% of time, Essential)

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED plus 5+ years manufacturing/mechanical experience
• Knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and facilities maintenance
• Ability to work independently, with attention to detail, and proficiency in basic computer skills
• Ability to interpret safety rules, operating instructions, SOPs, and to perform basic math
• Problem-solving skills involving multiple variables
• PIV certification or ability to obtain it

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous mechanical experience and production-related training/certifications, e.g., PIV certification

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Employees will be exposed to extreme heat (rarely), vibration, moving mechanical parts, moderate noise, and may need to wear protective gear. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, crawling, and working in various positions. The job has a heavy physical demand rating as per the US Department of Labor.
